Day 1: Amman

Morning transfer from Jerusalem to the Allenby Bridge; enter Jordan. Meet your driver and continue to Ajloun to see Saladin’s mountain top castle. Drive to Jerash, one of the world’s best-preserved Greco-Roman cities. Your local guide will escort you on a private tour of the Temples of Artemis and Zeus, the Roman Forum, Hadrian’s Arch, the massive Theatre and the mile-long Street of Columns. After lunch, continue with your driver to Amman, the capital of Jordan; enjoy a panoramic city tour before checking into your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a “Middle-Eastern style” dinner.  Overnight in Amman. (L.D)

Tour available without touring and meal on the first day for late arrivals at Amman Airport; please inquire.

Day 2: Amman / Petra

Depart with your driver to Mt. Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Continue to Madaba to see the oldest surviving 6^th-Century Byzantine map. After lunch, on to Kerak Castle, with its maze of stone-vaulted halls, from the time of the Crusaders. Arrive at the hotel in Petra for dinner and overnight.  (B.L.D)

Day 3: Petra

After breakfast, drive south along the Desert Road to the “hidden” city of Petra, built by the Nabateans over 2000 years ago.  Your local guide will take you on an unforgettable trip into the “rose red” city. Travel on horseback or on foot to the awesome “Siq”, a winding canyon road. Continue by foot to visit one of Petra’s most impressive monuments, the Treasury, carved out of solid rock from the side of the mountain.  Beyond the Treasury, you’ll discover soaring temples, elaborate royal tombs, a theatre, burial chambers and water channels. Lunch is included in Petra. Dinner and overnight in Petra; or substitute tonight’s dinner at the “Petra Kitchen” including Jordanian cooking lessons ($25 per person supplement; must be pre-booked). Day 4: Petra / Arava Crossing / Eilat, Israel (or return to Allenby-King Hussein Bridge* or Amman Airport)

Morning departure with your driver to the Arava Crossing for re-entry to Israel (Eilat); you will be met and transferred to hotel in Eilat or Airport. Or, take an optional Jeep Tour to Wadi Rum before exiting at the Arava border.  (B)

* Return to Allenby-King Hussein Bridge on last day does not include transfer from Allenby Bridge to various points in Israel. Note as well, on Fridays and Saturdays, due to early bridge closing, departure from Petra early morning.
